Interlaken

Interlaken is the base for excursion to Jungfrau – Top of Europe. The 100-years old Interlaken line will take you up by train passing through the most stupendous landscapes. The highlight is the final railway station on the top which is the highest in Europe where you reach crossing a 7 km long tunnel through the mountain. Once you reach the top you will be amazed with a view of 23 km long glacier – The Aletsch Glacier, which is the UNESCO World Heritage. There are various restaurants on top where you can savour various delicacies. Take an elevator to the Sphinx Observatory to enjoy a mesmerizing view of 360-degree surrounding Swiss Alps.

Take a funicular up, within 10 minutes, you reach on the top on Interlaken’s own mountain – Harder Kulm. You will be amazed with the best views of Interlaken with Lake Brienz on the east and Lake Thun on the west, breathtaking Bernese Alps like Eiger and Jungfrau at a distance. The viewing platform has a glass floor & there is also a medieval style panoramic restaurant up here.

One of the best ways to enjoy water sports in Interlaken is – Jetboat. Interlaken has an outstanding location between two beautiful crystal-clear lakes. One can soak in the beauty of this Swiss jewel by taking a Jetboat ride on this beautiful Lake Brienz which is surrounded by the mesmerizing view of the Swiss Alps. The ride takes you on a scenic ride on the lake upto the famous Giessbach Waterfalls where water comes thundering down 500 metres into the lake. The captain takes you on an informative ride by enteraining you about the fun-filled facts about the surrounding and the region. The ride is apt for all above 5 years of age and gives you a thrilling experience with 360-degrees view, high speed drifts & spins.

This street and the promenade is the main street of Interlaken running across the river Aare as it flows from Lake Brienz in the east to Lake Thun in the eest. The flower gardens and parks on one side of the street gives you clear views of the Bernese Alps. On the other side you will find world-class hotels, boutiques, bars and cafes as well as Interlaken’s casino.

St. Beatus Caves is a hidden-gem nestled in the Alps, overlooking Lake Thun between Thun and Interlaken. The entire area is quite beautiful with a series of waterfalls cascading down the cliffs, hiking to the caves where the rock formations themselves create an inexpressible atmosphere deep underground. You may also visit the cave museum where the history of the caves is brought to life with the use of latest technologies of infotainment.

Interlaken has a lot in store for thrill seekers, from paragliding and skydiving to water activities like white water rafting and canyoning, your trip will be loaded with adventure and thrill.

Interlaken’s Jungfrau Ski region is on the radar which comprises of Grindelwald First, Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen and Mürren-Schilthorn. Though Interlaken is not a Ski resort, its amenities, location, and accessibility make it an ideal place to base yourself for a day or two for skiing or snowboarding in winter. Many cross-country trails can be experienced which take place between Lake Thun and Lake Spiez overlooking the lake. You can also experience an astounding 15-km toboggan run from the Faulhorn peak down to Grindelwald.
